Bangladesh Apparel Youth Leaders Association (BAYLA), an organization of the young generation apparel leaders, started its journey officially on Saturday to strengthen the RMG industry.
Focusing on innovation and branding, member connection and growth as well as capacity building and market expansion, BAYLA has committed to strengthening the forward and backward linkages of the RMG industry.
Commerce minister Tipu Munshi officially inaugurated the association’s operations at an event held at Hotel Radisson in the city.
The minister hoped that the initiative would be a millstone for the future economic development of Bangladesh.
On the occasion, BAYLA formed a 16-member board to run the organisation, where Abrar Hossain Sayem from Sayem Group and Al-Shahriar Ahmed, managing director (MD) of Adzi Trims Ltd, were nominated as BAYLA’s president and secretary, respectively.
Abrar Hossain Sayem said, “The unique proposal of this body is to research innovation, bring young generation leaders together and find new opportunities for training, capacity building, and market expansion.”
“The team is expected to contribute significantly to the apparel industry of Bangladesh. The association will work closely with leading associations of the industry like BGMEA, BKMEA, BTMA, and BGAPMEA,” he added.
BAYLA secretary Al-Shahriar Ahmed said,
“In these challenging and difficult times, we need youth leaders to come to a mutual consent to get Bangladesh an advantage in the fourth industrial revolution, where we must require more proactive approaches within the industry,” he continued.
Any leader running an organisation related to apparel manufacturing, aged below 45, can be a member of this association.
The young apparel leaders believe that the required changes can be planned, formulated and implemented through a combination of experience and enthusiasm.
They also urged the senior industry leaders to guide BAYLA with their experience with a hope to work together in the future industry landscape.
Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Md Atiqul Islam, former Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association presidents Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin and Abdus Salam Murshedy, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry president Sheikh Fazle Fahim and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association senior vice-president Mohammad Hatem attended the inaugural ceremony, among others.
The Inauguration ceremony was ended with grand fashion show where team participated from Mahmud Group, Northern Tosrifa, Lithe Group, Ananta Garments & Sayem Group. etc.
